Child Passenger Safety - North Charleston

Monday, November 30, 2026 to Thursday, December 3, 2026

Event Details

Becoming a Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) transforms you into a critical community resource capable of saving young lives. Organized nationally by Safe Kids Worldwide in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), CPST certification empowers you to teach parents and caregivers how to correctly select, install, and utilize car seats, booster seats, and seat belts.

Quick Facts: The Path to Certification
    • The Role: You are an educator, not an installer. Your goal is to provide hands-on guidance so caregivers can confidently secure their children themselves.
    • The Training: A comprehensive 3 to 4-day (roughly 32 to 40-hour) in-person or hybrid course. You will dive deep into crash dynamics, seat belt systems, airbags, vehicle differences, and various car seat configurations.
    • Requirements: You must be 18 or older. No prior background in safety or mechanics is needed.
    • The Evaluations: Passing requires 100% attendance, passing three open-book written quizzes, completing four hands-on skills assessments, and successfully participating in a live community car seat checkup event.
    • Cost: A standard $95 national certification fee (plus occasional local course fees). The certification remains valid for two years
