Oral Health from Pregnancy to Early Childhood Webinar

Thursday, May 7, 2026
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM (EDT)

Event Details

Description

Children’s oral health risks and outcomes are shaped by numerous factors, including access to preventive care, maternal oral health, and timely treatment of disease — even before birth. How can you help influence those factors to improve maternal and child health and well-being?

Join CareQuest Institute and the National Maternal and Child Oral Health Resource Center for a webinar that will explore the connection between maternal and child health, from pregnancy through early childhood. Drawing on clinical experience, national guidance, and real‑world workflows, our expert speakers will discuss how oral health teams can collaborate effectively with prenatal and pediatric care providers to improve access, safety, and continuity of care. They’ll also discuss common barriers to care — including workflow challenges and Medicaid-related coverage variations — and highlight practical strategies learners can implement in their own settings.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe how maternal oral health, access to preventive care, and management of dental disease during pregnancy — e.g., maternal periodontitis — influence maternal, infant, and early childhood health outcomes.
  2. Discuss common barriers to integrated care and identify available resources and guidance to support continuity of care for pregnant patients and young children.
  3. Identify practical strategies for collaboration between oral health, prenatal, and pediatric care teams, including referral workflows and care coordination across different practice settings.
