Turning a Vision to Serve into Community Impact

For Pastor Russell and Tonya Heider, serving the community has always been at the heart of their vision for Arise Church. They dreamed of creating a ministry that would respond to a very real need, ensuring individuals and families experiencing hardship could access food, support, and compassionate care.

That vision came to life in an especially meaningful way through church members Kemplyn Brown, a Certified Community Health Worker, and her son, Phillip Brown. Long before the pantry had a name, Kemplyn and Phillip were already serving families in need through food distribution and building relationships throughout their community.

Their experience, connections, and understanding of food insecurity and the social factors that affect health created the perfect foundation for the Arise Church Food Pantry.

What began as a shared desire to serve has grown into a powerful example of what can happen when faith, community, and a commitment to the well-being of others come together. Through dedicated volunteers, generous donors, and the continued support of Arise Church, the pantry provides more than food; it offers neighbors a place to find compassion, dignity, connection, and hope.

The Arise Church Food Pantry reminds us that community health is about more than healthcare. It is about recognizing the needs of our neighbors and coming together to make sure people have the resources they need to thrive.
