Marlboro County Coordinating Council

The Marlboro County Coordinating Council shows how a coalition can serve as both a convener and a practical community resource. The nonprofit brings together more than 40 agencies, organizations, civic groups, and other partners to improve human services and coordinate existing resources in Marlboro County. The Council’s current initiatives address food disparities, health disparities, and mental health and wellness. It also partners with community and statewide organizations to hold an annual health and wellness forum that connects residents with service providers, health and wellness vendors, community resources, and information on a variety of health and wellness topics. Learn more about the Marlboro County Coordinating Council. At the Council’s August meeting, the SC Roadmap team learned about local priorities and resources and shared information about the Roadmap and the recently published Food Systems Policy Toolkit. Lillie Fox, who regularly participates in Council meetings, described the value of this ongoing engagement:

“I see partners share information, identify emerging needs, and connect organizations with resources. These conversations help the Roadmap team understand Marlboro County’s priorities."
