Introducing the Food System Policy Toolkit
Food insecurity is a significant and persistent challenge in South Carolina, affecting approximately 14.4% of households and contributing to chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and heart disease. Food-insecure adults in South Carolina face higher levels of physical and mental stress, greater difficulty managing chronic conditions, and increased healthcare costs.
Through the development of the SC Roadmap's Common Agenda and its actions to address nonmedical factors impacting health (NFIH), the SC Roadmap’s Policy Lead organization, the South Carolina Institute of Medicine and Public Health (IMPH) recently released the Food System Policy Toolkit to help policymakers, community leaders, and partners identify practical policy opportunities that can strengthen local food systems and improve the health and well-being of South Carolinians.
If you have questions about the toolkit, please contact IMPH at info@imph.org.
