‘Gro With the Flo’ expo unites women across generations for wellness and empowerment

In a society where women’s cycles are still whispered about, the Grow with the Flo Women and Girls Health Expo is flipping the script loudly, lovingly, and intergenerationally.
Scheduled for May 24 at Cana Moravian Church in Swetes, and hosted by Scrub Life Cares under the leadership of public health advocate Tanya Ambrose MPH, the full-day expo is a safe, spirited, and holistic gathering dedicated to menstrual dignity, hormonal wellbeing, and whole-body healing for women and girls of all ages.
“Menstrual health isn’t just a women’s issue — it’s a societal one,” Ambrose said. “When girls lack access to products, education, or safe spaces to talk about their bodies, they miss school, lose confidence, and internalize shame.”
With interactive exhibits, expert speakers, and a warm community spirit, Grow with the Flo — now in its fourth year — empowers attendees with knowledge, tools and sisterhood.
The event creates safe, age-appropriate spaces to talk about consent, body autonomy, good touch vs. bad touch, and confidence building, because education starts early.
But the focus of the expo doesn’t stop at puberty. It makes room for the often-unspoken chapter of menopause, where hormonal shifts can disrupt mood, sleep, energy, and even financial stability.
“We’re creating space for women in every season — from first period to last and beyond,” Ambrose shares. “Menopause deserves the same compassion and conversation. The event’s intergenerational design creates rare, enriching spaces where grandmothers, mothers, and daughters share wisdom, support, and strength.
One highlight of the event will be the unveiling of Grandma Mirie’s “Womb Wellness Box” a lovingly crafted collection of herbal teas, supplements, salves, and ancestral remedies made from her backyard garden.
Paired with a digital eBook, the box supports mood clarity, hormonal balance, and both menstrual and menopausal ease. “Wellness doesn’t just come from pills and paychecks — it grows in the soil, simmers in the pot, and passes through the hands of our grandmothers. What we inherit, our stories, our remedies, our strength is sacred,” said Grandma Mirie.
Grow with the Flo weaves modern wellness with ancestral wisdom, creating a space where women gain not just facts, but feelings, familiarity, and freedom. Whether it’s a young girl navigating her first cycle, a mother healing postpartum, someone managing fibroids, PCOS, or endometriosis, or a woman reclaiming balance after hot flashes and hormonal shifts one message rings true: a woman’s body’s rhythm is not a burden to bear, but a power to honor.
